We were out at 5:30am just about every day to shoot. This was taken on Driftwood Beach, I know no trees, combination of two exposures, layered in Photoshop and blended. The colors were amazing, especially the reflected blues.

This was taken on the last day, Sunday morning. We shot on the beach for sunrise, then moved to the marsh area nearby to get the sidelight. Walking down the bike trail I had to change lenses quickly to get this silhouette before the light was gone.

  1. Hi Sam –
Love your new images from Jekyll Island, especially the Driftwood Beach image. The perspective and texture of the sand is really nice! Looks like a fun workshop!

  2. Thanks Betsy. It was a very special week, great instructors, great weather and most of all, a really special group of workshop participants. I will have some more images to come…

  3. Sam,
Sunrise from The Marshes is one of the best sunrise shots I have seen in years. It is very similar to sunrises in Kenya that I experienced in my 22 years in the Navy. Great job!

  4. Thanks Steve. I was pretty stoked when I saw the color that morning. I have some more shots of that sunrise that I will post later.
