The last of the summer flowers are still holding on…shot this with my Lensbaby Composer through a piece of textured glass. Post processing in CS5 with Nik Color Efex Pro 3.0 to bring up the color some more.

I haven’t posted too many images lately, been working on some other projects…so every so often I get an call or email from my friend Tony wondering if I’m still alive or what? Nice to know I’m missed…so here are a few images from the garden recently. Nothing to set the world on fire but at least it show’s I’m still alive and taking photos.
Playing around with the fractalius filter this morning, I was trying to get a glowing feel on some of the Lily of the Valley images I shot last week. I kind of like this one…it’s a combination blend of different layers with different fractalius filter effects. Click to view larger…
Some clematis shots from this morning…got to shoot it while it still looks good. Processed these in CS5 using some Nik Color Efex Filters… Continue reading ‘Clematis Take 2′
The light was really good this morning for shooting flowers in the garden, especially with the Lensbaby Composer. Nice semi-bright overcast skies work well with the Lensbaby, not too much contrast. I used an extention tube and the tele converter to compress the scene to get just the depth of field I was looking for. More things are starting to bloom in the garden, soooo more things to explore…
Here’s a version using the Totally Rad, Dirty Pictures texture plug-in…
My wife planted a clematis last year and we didn’t get very many flowers from it…this year IS a different story. Lots of flowers and buds so maybe I’ll get to shoot some more photos of it. Love the color!
Before the Lily of the Valley pass their prime I thought I’d take another run at shooting them. Early in the morning they are all in shade, a good time to get the Lensbaby Composer out with the soft focus optic. I’m a little stiff today after crawling around the flower patch at flower level… Continue reading ‘Lily of the Valley – Experiment 2′
A few variations on the dogwood series…yes, this will probably be the last of the dogwood images. Both were shot with the Lensbaby Composer using the Soft Focus Optic. The black and white is a bit over the top for me using the fractalius filter. The color image is using the Totally Rad texture filter with a frost on glass image I shot this winter for the texture.

More images from my rain session with the pink dogwood…first one is using my 85mm PC lens and some Topaz Simplify. Next two are using my Lensbaby Composer and the Soft Focus Optic with a little fine tuning in CS3.

Experimenting with the Totally Rad – Dirty Pictures plug-in using some of my own textures. This is a combination of a Lensbaby Composer image of my niece and a bunch of blended texture cloud layers using Dirty Pictures. Don’t ask for the exact formula, I was just going with what felt right and did NOT write it all down…radial blurs, flipped layers, soft light and screen blending modes and a few masks just to recant some of the process. Oh yeah, through in a little Nik Color Efex Pro too…
I think I’ll just float off to dreamland for a while…
