HDR at Fonthill

HDR Fonthill No.1

HDR Fonthill No.1 - D700, 14-24mm

Spent last Sunday morning shooting some HDR images with John Barclay and a group of other photographers at Fonthill in Doylestown, PA. It was great fun at an over-whelming venue. Here’s one of the images from the morning…more to come as I find some time to process all the HDR images. Only shot with my 14-24mm lens, definitely a wide angle location. Processed HDR with Photomatix and tonemapped with SNS-Pro. I did do a HDR pano or two but that will take some time to process…stand by for more from Fonthill…

Here’s a color version of the same image, click to view a little larger.

Family Wedding

Flowers and Bow Tie

Flowers and Bow Tie - Canon G10

My nephew got married last weekend and we had a great time at the wedding. No, I was NOT the photographer, just a guest but I did take my Canon G10 and shoot a few vignettes of the day. The ceremony and reception were at the El Serrano Restaurant in Lancaster, PA. The service was in the courtyard pictured below and the reception was upstairs in the restaurant. Wonderful service, great fun and superb food, all surrounded by family and friends, what more could you ask for…

Two more shots from the day, the harpist and a shot of one of the upstairs dining areas. A very nice place with GREAT tapas…

Live Oaks & Architecture

Savannah Live Oaks IR

Savannah Live Oaks IR - D200, IR converted, 18-35mm

I am always looking for live oak shots when I am in the south. These were in Chippewa Square in Savannah, well, I’m pretty sure this was Chippewa. Don’t make me swear to that…

Here’s another IR shot of some architectural detail in Savannah. I think this was around Chippewa Square too…maybe I need to put a GPS on my camera?

Mirroring Experiments

Mirroring Image 1

Mirroring Image 1 - D200, IR

Sometimes I find a scene where I like the light but don’t find a composition that works for me. I have found that you should just take an image of what attracted you in the first place and review the images later. Playing around with the images in CS5 can be lots of fun or really frustrating depends on your frame of mind at the time. Here are some of the scenes where I liked the light but not the original composition…so I played in CS5 with mirroring, and a few other things to come up with these. A touch of surrealism can be just what is needed sometimes…the architectural images make me think of something out of an old Buck Rogers movie.

A Day With IR Only

Duck on Lake IR

Duck on Lake IR - D200, 18-35mm

Every so often I go out with just the IR converted camera, gets me looking at things in a different way. At the lake I found a duck taking a swim, the combination of textures caught my eye… I also took a ride to this commercial property nearby that I can access anytime. This is a two image stitch, hand held, the IR and a wide angle lens lets me hand hold almost anything at f/8 or f/11. I also did some IR pano tests with the tripod and RRS pan head; working on zeroing the pano technique in for when I need to work fast to get a pano image. May be some IR pano images in the future…
