Mantis at the Door – D700, 85mm PC

While taking the trash out the other evening, I spotted this mantis hanging around the door, probably looking for some dinner or getting out of the sun, it was 98 in the shade…

This guy or gal, hard to tell when they are young is one of this year’s hatch. We had two egg sacks in the yard last fall so I should see some more this summer…and so starts “The Great Mantis Shoot for 2012″. This one was about one and a half inches long, he’s got some growing to do…
