Sugar Hill Overlook - IR

Sugar Hill Overlook - IR - D200, IR converted, 18-35mm

Today’s post is all about IR in the White Mountains of NH…soooo if you’re NOT into IR you can leave now. With that out of the way, off we go…click on the continue reading link to see the rest of the post.

First image is from the Sugar Hill Overlook. Not a lot of color that morning and the light wasn’t doing a lot for me so I got out the IR converted D200 and even used a couple of split grad filters to knock the sky back a bit. Finished in CS5 with Nik Color Efex Pro 3.0.

We spent a couple of hours one evening at the Mt Washington COG Railway. I slung the IR camera over my back and pulled it out every so often to snap some shots. Grabbed this one as the train rolled by into the sun. Finished in CS5 with Nik Color Efex again and a little Flypaper edge texture. Two more shots of the COG Railway follow…

As we were gathering to leave I saw this very interesting cloud over the trees in the parking lot. Not much light left but just enough to grab a quick shot, ISO 200, f/4.0 at 1/10 second. This may be my favorite IR shot of the day…that changes on any whim floating around at any moment.
