Loch Ness at Dores No 1 - D700, 24-70
Going over some images from our Scotland trip I found these HDR black and white images I forgot to post. We were looking for a place to get down by the loch for a special request from a certain family member. As we were getting ready to leave the hotel in Inverness we ran into the hotel manager and asked him where we could get down to the water. He gave us some great directions and pointed us to Dores. Both of these were shot down by the boat launch area. A Frenchman was in his van getting ready to take his kayak out. It was a bit breezy and there was a chill coming off the water. Not the kind of day I would like to go kayaking alone…

I can still feel the chill coming off the water…

Some more images from the “Mid Winter’s Ball” photo-shoot, couples this time…all fine folks.

Professor Tinker and Saddie Silks

Sgt. Hochbauer and Dances With Toe Shoes

Jingles Jerr and Bonnie B Good
Some of the images work better in sepia but some of them really need color…as you can see in the “Jingles Jerr & Bonnie B Good ” image. Just wouldn’t be the same in sepia now would it.
No, that’s not their real names…it’s their alias/handle they use in the cowboy action shooting group.

Tuscarora Slim - sepia
I’ve been wanting to do some character portrait images for a while … a friend does cowboy action shooting and they get together over the summer for the matches. Recently they had their “Mid-Winter’s Ball” at a local restaurant so I offered to shoot some photos of the group if they were interested. Everyone comes dressed in their finest cowboy outfits for the dinner and they looked great. I set up some lights and a backdrop and with a little posing assistance from Penny (one of the group) I had a good time and got some fun shots. These are a few of the images that I have processed…more to come later.
Here are the color versions of the images above…Click on the images to view larger.

Snowy Oak - D700, 24-70mm
Another small snow storm passes through the area…going to take at least a foot or more to get my attention after out last white-outs. On the way to play some tennis, indoors of course, I grabbed the camera to take along just in case the weather provided something…
I always enjoy viewing this large oak on the drive and the snow and fog added some extra mood to the shot. Hopped out at the stop sign and grabbed a few shots, back in the car and continue on to tennis. Not going to let this nuisance snow get me down!
