You would think this deep in the forest somewhere hidden from most folks view. Well it’s not. This is a small part of Gil & Sharyn’s back yard. More yard than I could ever imagine taking care of…I did enjoy photographing all the work that went into it though.

At our friends home again, this time something that doesn’t move… Gil had quite a collection of orchids but only one was in bloom at the time. Shot this with my 24-70@70mm with a short extension tube and used an off camera flash (SB-800) with small LumiQuest soft-box. this is a combination of two shots, one at F/2.8 and one at f/11. Combined the two images in CS3, painting in the sharpness from the f/11 image. I knew enough to ask Gil to write the name of the orchid down for me…past experience DOES teach well.

Well, I’ve finally “gone to the dogs”…we were at some friends home for a few days and they had a cute dog, so of course I took some photos. This is a Lensbaby Composer shot of Maddie. Not the easiest way to photograph an energetic dog but I did manage to get a good shot…not sure I’ll be doing a lot of dog photography in the future.

Leaning Tree & Ducks - IR, D200, Sigma 10-20

A couple of infrared images shot today. When the light is hard and the clouds are white and puffy I think infrared in a flash. Both of these were shot with my converted D200 using a Sigma 10-20mm lens. I also used a soft focus filter to spread the highlights and ran the images through the Nik Color Efex Pro 3.0 Tonal Contrast filter a few times to punch up the contrast and finished up with the Paper Toner filter to sepia tone the images.
